

Biography
Mark Francis (b.1990) studied Composition and Performance (Joint Principal Study) at the Royal Northern College of Music from 2008-2012 with Gary Carpenter and Larry Goves. Mark returned to complete his Undergraduate composition studies at Leeds Conservatoire and graduated in October of 2025. Mark's music has been performed in Concerts in Italy, Germany and the UK.He has received commissions from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM Wind Weekend 2009, RNCM Ensemble Weekend 2010) as well leading instrumentalists including Christopher Houlding. During his studies at the RNCM Mark was awarded the "Terence Greeves Award" for Big Band Composition. In 2012 Mark was invited to perform as part of the Resident Ensemble and teach at the European Jazz Academy in Heek, Germany. Mark's music has been performed and recorded by RNCM Jazz Collective, RNCM Massed Wind Ensemble, members of "Beat's n Pieces Big Band" and members of Opera North. Mark is currently studying for a Masters in Composition at Leeds Conservatoire with Tom Harrold.
